Professor Abigail Perdue has published numerous law review articles and scholarly essays on various topics, including judicial clerking, discrimination, and pedagogical innovation. Her first book – Animal Cruelty and Freedom of Speech: When Worlds Collide (with Dr. Randall Lockwood) – is available from Purdue University Academic Press. Professor Abigail Perdue has published numerous law review articles and scholarly essays on various topics, including judicial clerking, discrimination, and pedagogical innovation. Her first book – Animal Cruelty and Freedom of Speech: When Worlds Collide (with Dr. Randall Lockwood) – is available from Purdue University Academic Press. In 2022, she published Employment Discrimination: A Practical Skills Guide and Learning Lab Manual.

Professor Perdue teaches or has taught Legal, Analysis, Writing, and Research ("LAWR") I and II, Appellate Advocacy, Diversity and Discrimination, Employment Discrimination: Principles and Practice, Professional Responsibility, Legal Writing for Judicial Chambers, Introduction to American Law, and Judicial Clerking. She is the Founding Director of the D.C. Summer Judicial Externship Program. She also chaired Wake Forest's Clerkship Committee for many years and has served on other committees as well. In 2021, she was the recipient of the Joseph Branch Award in Teaching Excellence.

Professor Perdue is also actively involved in service to the field of legal writing at the national level. Among other things, she has served as Co-Chair of the Legal Writing Institute's 2022 Biennial Conference, Co-Chair of the Legal Writing Institute's New Member Outreach Committee, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Second Draft, a publication of the Legal Writing Institute. She is also a contributing writer for LWI Lives. She currently serves as President-Elect of LWI and is a member of LWI's Finance Committee.

Prior to joining the faculty at Wake Forest, Professor Perdue practiced employment law at the New York City office of Proskauer Rose, LLP. She also taught courses, including Diversity and Discrimination in Employment and Higher Education, Genetics, Law, and Policy, and Cases and Controversies in American Law, at Washington and Lee University. In addition, she clerked for the Honorable Mary Ellen Coster Williams of the United States Court of Federal Claims and the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Professor Perdue graduated summa cum laude from Washington and Lee University and obtained her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
