Professor Conrad is the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. His chambers are in Charlotte. Professor Conrad served as the United States Attorney in the Western District from 2001 until 2004, where he prosecuted cases involving the financing of terrorism and violations of campaign finance laws; the Attorney General appointed him to lead a campaign finance task force for the Department of Justice. He worked as an Assistant United States Attorney between 1989 and 2001. Professor Conrad graduated from Clemson University in 1980, and from the University of Virginia Law School in 1983.
